Railing Art

St Gregory's Centre for the Arts is now giving artists the opportunity to showcase their work on the railings of the church.

Railing Art takes place every Saturday from May to late September. For more information, please read the codes of conduct below and/or contact us.

Codes of conduct

General rules

  1. Artists are required to be considerate and respectfull towards other exhibiting artists.
  2. Artists are required to be considerate towards other businesses in the locality and to co-operate with members of St Gregory's staff.
  3. Artists are asked to regulate space fairly among each other.
  4. Artists are asked to not display material offensive or disparaging to public or promote cultural intolerance.
  5. Artists are asked not to behave in any way which may be considered a danger to themselves or the general public.
  6. St Gregory's Church is in the centre of Norwich Lanes and is a premium venue. We ask that you co-operate with members of staff and any requests they may have.

Installation

  1. St Gregory's shares its site with pedestrians and limited vehicle access.
  2. Exhibits are to be installed between 11.00am and 12 noon.
  3. We request removal of exhibits to take place from 4.00pm and no later than 5.30 pm.
  4. Work is to be exhibited on the church railings within the churchyard.
  5. Please treat these historic railings with respect and do not damage.

Modus operandi

  1. You are required to stay with your work throughout exhibition.
  2. Generators and electrical equipment must not be brought on to the site.
  3. Amplification and loudspeakers may not be used.
  4. There are no storage facilities and the churchyard is to be tidy at all times, resulting in a clean and clear site at the end of the day.
  5. You may not set up any additional display materials or structures on the surrounding footpaths. Please do not block any obvious entrances and exits.

Safety

  1. Please be advised to risk asses your activity. All hung works must be safe and secure.
  2. You are welcome to source your personal insurance.
  3. St Gregory's Centre for Arts is not responsible for any loss or damage to work whilst exhibited.

Displays

  1. You are permitted to show and sell personal and/or group work.
  2. At present we will not charge commission of sale.
  3. We will charge an exhibition fee of £5.
  4. St Gregory's Centre for Arts reserves the right to refuse permission for an artist to display work.
